VICTORIA, LAGUNA – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Laguna Provincial Office through Negosyo Center Biñan City, in partnership with DTI 4A Regional Office and the City Government of Biñan through its Business Permits and Licensing Office, held a seminar on October 8, 2024, in Biñan City, Laguna, to inform consumers about Product Standards and Conformance, Consumer Rights and Responsibilities, and Fair-Trade Laws.
The said activity was implemented in celebration of the National Standards Week and the Consumer Welfare Month 2024 themed “Be smart, assert your consumer rights!”
More than 40 representatives from motorcycle dealerships, appliance centers, electronic shops, and hardware stores participated in the activity. The purpose of the seminar is to inform consumers and companies about their rights as customers and the significance of following conformity guidelines and product standards. In addition to encouraging moral business conduct that supports a stronger and more sustainable economy, it seeks to educate and empower consumers. The seminar provides attendees a thorough understanding of national and international product standards, assist businesses with product certification and regulatory compliance, and enable customers to make informed decisions by identifying certified products that meet set quality standards. Additionally, business operators get education regarding fair-trade law compliance and ethical business practices are strongly encouraged.

By doing this, DTI-Laguna hopes to raise consumer awareness, educate company owners about their legal responsibilities to maintain fair trade practices, and establish an atmosphere in the marketplace that values responsibility, openness, and trust.
