Calamba City, Laguna – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Laguna, through its Negosyo Center Los Baños, actively participated in the 2025 Provincial Stakeholders Consultation Meeting on February 11, 2025, at Sol Y Viento Makiling Heights, Barangay Pansol, Calamba City, Laguna. The event gathered key government agencies, private sector representatives, and other stakeholders to discuss crucial environmental and socio-economic issues affecting the province.

The program began with an invocation and national anthem, followed by the introduction of guests and participants. Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office Officer-in-Charge Venerando U. Garcia delivered the welcome remarks, emphasizing the significance of collaboration among government agencies, local businesses, and communities in addressing environmental challenges while promoting sustainable economic growth.

Addressing Laguna’s Environmental and Economic Landscape

A key highlight in the meeting was the presentation on the state of Environment and Natural Resources in Laguna, led by Ms. Arra Jane Y. Juridicio, Chief of the Planning Section. She provided an overview of the province’s current environmental situation, challenges, and ongoing initiatives to protect natural resources. This was followed by Ms. Helen O. Quiambao, Planning Officer III, who presented the 2025 Work and Financial Plan, outlining Laguna’s budget allocation, priority projects, and strategies for sustainable development in the coming year.

To encourage collaboration and problem-solving, the participants engaged in a workshop, where they shared ideas, raised concerns, and proposed solutions to strengthen local initiatives. This interactive session allowed stakeholders to align their efforts and contribute to the province’s overall development goals.

Introducing Project Transform: A Step Toward Sustainability

A major focus of the event was the introduction of Project Transform, an initiative aimed at enhancing environmental protection, disaster resilience, and socio-economic development through multi-stakeholder collaboration. The presentation on Project Transform Laguna was delivered by the focal person of the project Ms. Danica Sheryl A. Dorado, who highlighted the project’s objectives and impact.

This project was successfully implemented in Rizal Province, where it yielded significant improvements in environmental sustainability and community resilience. Due to its success, it is now being introduced in Laguna to address similar challenges and promote sustainable development.

Project Transform focuses on key areas such as:

  • Food and water security – Ensuring access to safe and sufficient resources for communities
  • Waste management – Implementing programs to reduce, recycle, and properly dispose of waste
  • Sustainable livelihood – Creating economic opportunities that support both the community and the environment

The initiative emphasizes the importance of cooperation among government agencies, businesses, and local communities to achieve long-term environmental and economic stability.

Call for Stakeholder Support

As the event came to a close, a call for a pledge of support for Project Transform Laguna was made, encouraging all stakeholders to take part in the initiative. Their commitment will be vital in ensuring the project’s success and making Laguna a model for sustainable development.
