Santa Cruz, Laguna — The Laguna Provincial Office of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI-Laguna) and the Provincial Government of Laguna – Local Economic Development and Investments Promotions Office (PGL-LEDIPO) facilitated a seminar-workshop on Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) Five Pillar indicators on March 5, 2024, at the Cultural Center, Laguna Provincial Capitol, Santa Cruz, Laguna.

The workshop aims to maintain or improve the local and provincial competitiveness rankings of Laguna.

Laguna Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Maria Rowena Inzon said in her welcome message, “We do hope na tayo po ay magtanungan at magtulungan upang mapanatili ang ating competitiveness ranking sa CMCI (We do hope that we would help each other in able to keep our CMCI competitiveness ranking”.

Laguna has been dubbed as the 3rd Most Competitive Province in the Philippines during the 2023 Philippine Creative Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Congress.

On behalf of DTI-Laguna Provincial Director Christian Ted Tungohan, Business Development Division Officer-in-Charge Abi del Mundo graced the event. Del Mundo congratulated Laguna LGUs and promised the continuous support of DTI-Laguna on the whole CMCI process.

DTI Region 4A focal person Christine Querubin facilitated the discussion on the following topics: (1) CMCI Overview; (2) CMCI Portal; (3) Five Pillar indicators; (4) Data Analysis; (5) Scoring and Ranking; and (6) Performance Assessment.

The CMCI rankings of cities and municipalities are based on their scores on five pillars: Economic Dynamism, Government Efficiency, Infrastructure, Resiliency, and Innovation. Provincial rankings are based income weighted average of the overall scores of cities and municipalities under a province (LMdLBayunggan, DTI-Laguna). ♦
