Antipolo City, Rizal | The Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) orientation initiative in Rizal was spearheaded by DTI Region 4-A Rizal together with Rizal Provincial Government, DILG, PSA, PCCI and from the academe University of Rizal System, at the Ynares Multi-Purpose Hall in Rizal Provincial Capital last February 26, 2025.
The gathering brought together representatives from various municipalities and lone city across Rizal province to understand the CMCI framework, which evaluates local government units through four main pillars: economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure, and resiliency. Economic dynamism examines the locality’s business environment and financial stability, while government efficiency focuses on public service quality and ease of doing business. The infrastructure component assesses physical facilities supporting commerce, and resiliency measures disaster preparedness and environmental management.

This DTI-led orientation reflects the department’s role in promoting local competitiveness and economic development. Region 4-A CMCI Focal Person Ms. Christine Querubin facilitated the knowledge transfer to help Rizal’s local governments better understand these metrics, benchmark their performance, and develop strategies to enhance their CMCI rankings.
Provincial Director Cleotilde Duran concluded the event with an inspirational message, encouraging all participants to strive for excellence. Her closing remarks, “We are happy living in Rizal”, highlighted the provincial pride and commitment to continued improvement. ♦
