DTI Rizal Holds ACT Session to Empower 11 Rizal-Based MSMEs Under OTOP Next Gen Program

Antipolo City | The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Rizal Provincial Office successfully conducted an Assessment, Consultation, and Triage (ACT) Session under the One Town, One Product Next Generation (OTOP Next Gen) program. This is designed to assess the current status of OTOPreneurs and identify areas for innovation and growth. Held on May 2, 2025, the session gathered 11 MSMEs from the food and non-food sectors of Rizal.

The session commenced with an opening prayer led by Ms. Famela Mata, OTOP NG Program Staff, followed by the introduction of participating MSMEs. In her welcome remarks, Provincial Director Cleo Duran set a positive and collaborative tone for the day’s engagements. Regional Director Marissa Argente delivered an inspiring message, emphasizing the vital role of visually compelling and high-quality products in enhancing brand identity and gaining market traction.

To provide a clear roadmap for the session, Business Development Division Chief Sharon Dioco presented an overview of the activity, highlighting the objectives of the ACT process and the role of consultants in guiding the participants toward market-readiness.

Each of the 11 OTOPreneurs had the opportunity to present their products and branding materials to a panel of seasoned experts, who provided detailed feedback and technical advice.

  • Mr. Rommel Viloria, Design Consultant, offered insights on packaging design and brand identity.
  • Mr. Joel Caalaman, IPO Specialist, addressed concerns on intellectual property and trademark protection.
  • Ms. Niña Giron of DOST Rizal shared technical recommendations for product development and industry compliance.
  • Chef Fiona Flores from the PACE training institute emphasized the importance of balancing flavor with proper preservation techniques and recommended incorporating natural ingredients to extend shelf life without compromising quality.

The session was a highly productive and insightful experience, enabling participants to better align their offerings with industry standards and consumer expectations.

Through initiatives like the ACT Session, DTI Rizal continues to support the growth of local entrepreneurs, empowering them to thrive in both local and international markets under the OTOP Next Gen Program. ♦
