Luisiana, Laguna — On March 7, 2025, the Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office through Negosyo Center Luisiana, in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Luisiana, conducted the seminar entitled “Financial Opportunities for MSMEs: DTI-SBCorp Loan Programs & Consumer Education” at 3rd Floor Luisiana Cibac Building, Luisiana, Laguna, which was participated by Luisiana MSMEs.

The program started with a brief introduction of the topics to be discussed and an acknowledgement to the guests and participants. Hon. Jomapher Alvarez, Municipal Mayor of Luisiana, extended his unwavering support through his representative Mr. Marlon Vendivel. He expressed gratitude to the Small Business Corporation as well as the DTI-Laguna, event partners and the participating business owners. He highlighted that this program provides registered business owners with appropriate and necessary information to strengthen financial sustainability, growth and development of their business operations.

Mr. Benson L. Sarabia, P3/CI Monitoring Staff of Small Business Corporation, started the discussion with a brief information on the Small Business Corporation. He explained the requirements, benefits, application process, and best practices in accessing the SBCorp Rise Up Program covering the Rise Up Tindahan and Rise Up Multi-Purpose Loan. A loan program for new MSMEs that are operating less than a year was also introduced to the participants. He further elaborated how MSMEs become better equipped to manage debt responsibly and use loans effectively for business growth.

The second resource speaker Ms. Ruzzelle Palentinos, Negosyo Center Business Counsellor of Negosyo Center Luisiana, shared about topics on consumer education, such as consumer rights and responsibilities. In addition, she highlighted the grounds for consumer complaints and/or specific concerns under specific agency’s jurisdiction.

The last part of the program was the Q&A session where participants raised concerns regarding the application process, required documentation, and loan approval timelines. The seminar concluded with guidance on how applicants can submit their loan applications and follow up on their status.

This has been a meaningful learning session wherein attendees acquired essential information on various loan programs for business expansion and growth opportunities. MSMEs gain the confidence and knowledge needed to access financial support effectively, contributing to their business resilience and economic development (RSPalentinos, DTI-Laguna). ♦
