Iloilo City, Philippines—The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) met with representatives from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to reaffirm their joint commitment to the Roads Leveraging Linkages for Industry and Trade (ROLL IT) Program. This collaboration focuses on completing ongoing projects from 2018 to 2024, supported by a PHP 130 million funding allocation for nine road infrastructure projects in the region.

Established through a Memorandum of Agreement between DTI and DPWH, the ROLL IT Program aims to enhance road connectivity to support key industries and economic zones.

The recent meeting was a venue for both agencies to identify existing roads and networks needing improvement to enhance access to priority industries. The DTI determined the priority industries, while both agencies agreed to conduct joint on-site validation of ongoing projects to assess progress and implement necessary adjustments.

Regional Director Rachel Nufable emphasized the need to prioritize areas with existing Shared Service Facilities (SSF) that require road improvements. Improving infrastructure in these locations is expected to further boost investments and economic activities in the region.

Launched in 2016, the ROLL IT Program is a strategic initiative that supports the country’s industrial and regional development by improving road networks that link production areas to markets. With strengthened collaboration between DTI and DPWH, the program continues to pave the way for inclusive growth by facilitating industrial dispersal, creating more jobs, and promoting economic opportunities across the region. ♦
