Guimaras, Philippines—The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is boosting the reach of Geographical Indication (GI)-certified Guimaras mangoes, bringing the island’s renowned fruit directly to consumers in Metro Manila. This initiative is a key highlight of the Manggahan Festival 2025, demonstrating DTI’s commitment to bolstering the visibility and market access for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The week-long festival kicked off on May 16 at the Guimaras Provincial Capitol Grounds, officially opened by DTI Region 6 Director Rachel Nufable. The opening ceremony was a vibrant display of cultural performances, traditional music, and festive dances. A unique and symbolic mango picking activity offered guests a hands-on experience, highlighting the significance of Guimaras mangoes.

Following the ceremonial opening, the Regional Agri-Eco Trade Fair was led by the provincial and regional government officials. This was followed by the ribbon-cutting and formal opening of the Mango Eat-All-You-Can activity, a perennial favorite that draws thousands of visitors annually to experience the island’s sweetest treasure.

“We are excited and immensely happy about this endeavor in marketing and promoting the sweetest mangoes with a Geographical Indication (GI), the Guimaras Mangoes,” Regional Dircetor Nufable said.
RD Nufable expressed the DTI’s full support for the development of the mango industry and the broader agricultural value chain in Guimaras.
“The strong collaboration with logistics companies, with the assistance of DTI’s Supply Chain and Logistics Group, and all stakeholders in mango production, marks a significant leap in the development of the industry,” the regional director added.

Crucially, this year’s festival is leveraging robust partnerships with LBC, PHLPost, Airspeed, and FAST Logistics to ensure fresh Guimaras mangoes reach urban households. These logistic partnerships reflect the growing interest from the private sector in directly supporting the Guimaras mango value chain.
Guimaras mangoes are also expected to take the center stage at the country’s premier international food exhibition, IFEX Philippines 2025, at the World Trade Center, from May 22 to 25.

This year’s Manggahan Festival highlights not only Guimaras’ agricultural excellence but also DTI’s commitment in strengthening local industries, empowering MSMEs, and building strong partnerships. The event signifies the agency unwavering efforts to improve logistics, access, and growth across the value chain throughout the country.
