At the last leg of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) discussions, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Gregory Domingo, together with Ministers of 21 APEC member economies, met at the APEC Ministerial Meeting (AMM) held in Pasay City.  
 
“We have made significant contributions to APEC. Our work has gathered support for member economies to collectively work towards an Asia Pacific region that addresses gaps in economic development, sustains long-term and inclusive growth, and benefits our micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs),” said Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Gregory L. Domingo.

Engineering and architecture students in Iloilo were acquainted on the importance of standardization in upholding consumers’ rights to safety and quality of products sold in the market.
 
Department of Trade and Industry Region 6 (DTI-6) Trade Development Division Chief Felisa Judith Degala said that products covered by the mandatory standards shall be used later by these students in their profession.
 
“Their appreciation and understanding on compliance to Philippine standards must start while they are still in school,” Degala said. She added that these mandatory products ensures and involves quality and safety of certain products in the market.

In line with the Department of Trade and Industry's (DTI) advocacy to bring small businesses in the front and center of global and regional trade, the Philippine mission to the World Trade Organization (PMWTO) submitted two documents on “Fostering the Participation of MSMEs in Regional and Global Markets."  The first submission in July provided the rationale for starting a conversation that includes micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as well as highlighting the opportunities available to the WTO and its members to further strengthen linkages within the WTO discussions on aspects of MSMEs and existing linkages with other international organizations such as UNCTAD, ITC, and the World Bank Group.  The second submission provides a draft ministerial statement for the 10th WTO Ministerial Conference in Nairobi, Kenya from 15-18 December.
