The Philippines’ total merchandise trade for January-July 2018 amounted to US$99.98 billion, an increase of 7.7% from US$92.79 billion recorded in January-July 2017.  Total exports declined by 2.8% to US$38.74 billion in January-July 2018 from US$39.87 billion in the same period last year.  On the other hand, total imports increased by 15.7% from US$52.92 billion in January-July 2017 to US$61.23 billion in January-July 2018.  The country’s balance of trade in goods registered US$22.49 billion deficit in January-July 2018 higher than the US$13.05 billion deficit during the same period in 2017.
