The Philippines’ total merchandise trade for January-September 2018 amounted to US$131.42 billion, an increase of 8.4% from US$121.21 billion recorded in January-September 2017.  Total exports declined by 2.1% to US$50.76 billion in January-September 2018 from US$51.83 billion in the same period last year.  On the other hand, total imports increased by 16.3% from US$69.38 billion in January-September 2017 to US$80.67 billion in January-September 2018.  The country’s balance of trade in goods registered US$29.9 billion deficit in January-September 2018 higher than the US$17.54 billion deficit during the same period in 2017.
