The Philippines’ total merchandise trade for January-March 2018 amounted to US$40.17 billion, an increase of 1.4% from US$39.62 billion recorded in January-March 2017.  Total exports declined by 6.0% to US$15.75 billion in January-March 2018 from US$16.76 billion in the same period last year.  On the other hand, total imports increased by 6.8% from US$22.86 billion in January-March 2017 to US$24.41 billion in January-March 2018.  The country’s balance of trade in goods registered US$8.66 billion deficit in January-March 2018 higher than the US$6.10 billion deficit during the same period in 2017.
