The annual headline inflation at the national level continued to accelerate at 4.5 percent in April 2018. Last month, it was recorded at 4.3 percent and in April 2017, 3.2 percent.
Higher annual increments were noted in the indices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco; clothing and footwear; housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels; furnishing, household equipment and routine maintenance of the house; health; transportation; recreation and culture; and restaurant and miscellaneous goods and services.
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) rebased CPI series for base year 2006 to 2012 on March 2018, applicable for monthly CPI starting January 2012.
