Thailand Week 2025
27 March 2025, 1 PM | Market! Market!, Taguig City.
His Excellency, Mr. Rangsant Srimangkorn, Charge d’affaires of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of the Philippines. Ms. Sutinee Vathana, Director of the Thai Trade Center Manila, leaders from the Philippines and the Thailand business community, distinguished guests, of course, a personal friend, Jenki.
Ladies and gentlemen, good morning to all of you.
It is an honor to join you today at the opening of the Thailand Week 2025, a testament to our meaningful trade partnership and cross-cultural exchanges between our two countries.
Allow me to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Department of International Trade Promotion of the Ministry of Commerce in Thailand and to the Thai Trade Center in Manila for organizing the showcase of the Thai innovation and entrepreneurial spirit of the Thai people.
For over a decade, Thailand Week has served as a bridge between Thai exporters and Filipino consumers. Today, we welcome more than 70 companies offering products ranging from food and drinks to fashion accessories, beauty, health, and household goods. This event is more significant as we celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relationship between the Philippines and Thailand.
Ours is a friendship rooted in shared values, strong people-to-people ties, and a vision for inclusive economic growth across the ASEAN. Thailand remains as one of the Philippines’ top trading partners in the region. In 2023, bilateral trade between our two nations reached nearly 10 billion US dollars, making Thailand our seventh largest trading partner and sixth top import source and eighth export destination.
These numbers reflect not just market potential but the trust and synergy between our business communities. But beyond trade, Thailand Week 2025 represents a growing platform of collaboration in key areas such as food processing and agribusiness, MSME development and creative industry promotion, beauty, wellness, and lifestyle industries where Filipino and Thai entrepreneurs can co-create value for ASEAN and beyond.
At the Department of Trade and Industry, we are committed to strengthening this collaboration. We are working closely with our partners in Thailand to facilitate trade missions, encourage more investment linkages, and support our MSMEs in accessing new markets. This year, we also look forward to the convening of the first Philippine-Thailand Joint Committee, a platform that will open even more doors for trade, investment, and innovation. This aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s Bagong Pilipinas Agenda, which emphasizes strengthening international partnerships for economic growth and prosperity and fostering a globally competitive Philippines.
May this week forge not just trade but lasting bonds of friendship and shared vision. Together, let us show the strength of our partnership to ASEAN and the world. Let Thailand Week 2025 stand as a testament to what we can achieve when we are all united.
Maraming salamat and may this event be a resounding success. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas and Thailand. ♦
