We, the members of the Foreign Trade Service Corps (FTSC), take your business to the global marketplace. We have one clear overriding goal – that is, to promote Philippine trade and investment worldwide. As part of the Department of Trade and Industry’s International Trade Group, we connect trading businesses of Philippine companies and foreign investors with their counterparts. This task is primarily carried out by professionals called commercial attaches or commercial counselors who man their respective posts abroad. As of today, we are present in 34 posts in 23 countries in Europe, the Middle East, North America, and Asia and the Pacific.

WHAT WE DO:

DTI’s Foreign Trade Service Officers (Commercial Attachés):

Head the operations of Philippine Trade and Investment Centers abroad
Promote the Philippines as an investment destination
Introduce Philippine products and services to foreign markets
Gather economic/commercial intelligence and share to concerned agencies
Assist in Philippine multilateral, regional, and bilateral trade negotiations

QUALIFICATIONS:

A Filipino Citizen with Integrity, between the ages of 25 to 35 (upon appointment to the Corps), who has not secured or applied for permanent residency outside of the country
At least a BA or BS degree in economics, marketing, management, law, banking, finance, and international studies (Master's Degree is an advantage)
At least four (4) years of supervisory and commercial management experience or actively engaged in the practice of his or her profession
Available for a worldwide assignment and willing to relocate approximately every 4 years
Ability to recognize and identify entrepreneurial opportunities
Fluency in English and preferably other major foreign languages
Ability to create a good impression, command attention and show an air of confidence
Must secure Civil Service Professional Eligibility or granted civil service eligibility status (honor graduates and professional license holders) pursuant to P.D. 907 and R.A. 1080, before Step #4 in the Foreign Trade Service Officer Selection Process

FOREIGN TRADE SERVICE OFFICER SELECTION PROCESS:

If you meet the stated qualifications, you will undergo the following Selection Process:

Pre-screening
Written Technical Exam - DTI Makati
Panel Interview - DTI Makati
Psychological Appraisal - Quezon City
Simulation Exercise - Pasig City
Executive Committee Interview - DTI Makati

Note: Each step is a hurdle stage. To proceed to the next step you should meet the cut-off score of the preceding step.
