For the celebration of Consumer Welfare Month with the theme, “Consumer Protection: A Shared Responsibility”, the Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI – Laguna) in cooperation with the Municipal Government of Famy conducted Diskwento Caravan at the Grounds of the Municipal Hall, Famy, Laguna on October 25, 2016.
Around 300 consumers benefitted and about one hundred forty thousand pesos (P140,000.00) of sales were generated from this event.
Coincided with this activity was the Mobile Business Name Registration. It aimed to serve business establishments and would-be entrepreneurs in the registration of business names at DTI.
The Diskwento Caravan is being conducted by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for many years to sell goods, especially basic necessities and prime commodities, to consumers at discounted prices. It is a way of public service by the government in partnership with big manufacturers, distributors and/or local producers. Most of the partners/sellers of the said events do not make money since in this project, they are requested to sell their products at affordable and discounted prices.
- DTI – Laguna rolls out Diskwento Caravan in Sta. Maria, Laguna
During the celebration of Consumer Welfare Month, the Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI – Laguna) rolled out Diskwento Caravan at the Basketball Court, Brgy. 4, Sta. Maria, Laguna on October 26, 2016. Around 200 consumers from Sta. Maria benefitted and about eighty five thousand pesos (P85,000.00) of sales were generated from this caravan.
Participating sellers of the said event offered freebies and discounts for the consumers.
Diskwento Caravan is being done in partnership with the manufacturers, distributors and/or local producers, who are willing to sell at a lower or discounted price. It is intended also to provide opportunity for consumers to access basic necessities and prime commodities at reduced prices by bringing the manufacturers and retailers closer to their market.
2. DTI – Laguna organizes Diskwento Caravan in Mabitac, Laguna
October 28, 2016, the 3rd and last Diskwento Caravan for the year in the Province of Laguna has finally ended.
The two-day diskwento caravan was conducted at the Basketball Court, Brgy. Pag-asa, Mabitac, Laguna. It was organized by the Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI – Laguna) in cooperation with the Municipal Government of Mabitac, Laguna and distributors and local manufacturers of basic necessities and prime commodities.
Around two hundred eighty thousand pesos of sales were generated and about five hundred fifty (550) consumers benefitted from the said caravan.
This caravan is one of the priority projects of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
