On April 4, 2018 Ms. Marinell Cahibaybayan George, producer of “Salabat ni Ama”, was registered under the business name Manell’s Food Products. Instead of selling raw ginger in the market at Php 20.00 per kilo, she is buying it from her father and producing it as salabat powder. For the first four months of operation, she was receiving orders amounting to Php 5,000.00 a month.

Saila Ebreo Watanabe, a college undergraduate, a young mother of three boys, and an entrepreneur who started small is now making a big splash in the lemonade business .
In 2016, she was a home-based call center agent who always bought lemonade at the night market before her duty. During that time, she and her partner’s meager income was not enough to cover their expenses and debts.

A Light that Shines
Jomar’s business started when he made his first lamp because he could not sleep without a night light. He lives in Brgy. Malabo, which is 11.7 km or about 30 minutes from the town proper of Valencia, Negros Oriental. The night at barangay Malabo is so dark that he decided to make several night lamps. It was a solution to a need, that turned to a business. He made a product out twigs, used wood, added resin to it, and an amakan lampshade.
