Legazpi City, Albay—Aiming to significantly bolster the quality management skills of private and public organizations across the region, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through its Bureau of Industry Planning and Innovation (BIPI), successfully wrapped up a transformative week-long Philippine Quality Award (PQA) Integrated Capability Training held from 20 to 24 May 2024.

Thirty professors and officials from Bicol University attended a four-day session on the PQA Framework, gaining a thorough understanding of its principles and practical application.

“We are thrilled with the outcome of the PQA Integrated Capability Training in Bicol. This event has marked a significant milestone in the Bicol region’s journey towards quality and excellence, providing invaluable recognition for both private and public sector organizations,” said DTI-BIPI Lilian Director Salonga.

Additionally, sessions with Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, a previous PQA recipient, offered valuable insights and success stories, providing attendees with best practice benchmarks.

The week concluded with a collaborative signing among PQA Foundation Inc., Bicol University, BIPI, and DTI Region 5, which emphasizes the importance of continuous improvement for both private and public organizations in the region.

Further, the roadshow was extended to a wider audience on 24 May, reinforcing the region’s commitment to quality and performance excellence. Fifty participants from the private sector and the public sector attended the roadshow to apply the PQA principles in their respective fields.

The PQA, the highest level of national recognition for exemplary organizational performance in the Philippines, provides a globally comparable framework and criteria for assessing organizational performance and identifying areas for improvement. Held in partnership with the PQA Foundation, the event aimed to raise awareness about quality and performance excellence, recognize exceptional organizations and share successful strategies and practices to foster continuous improvement across various sectors.
