Special Trade Representative (STR) Nicanor S. Bautista meets with officials of Fresenius Medical Care (FMC), the world’s largest provider of products and services for individuals undergoing dialysis because of kidney failure on Thursday, 9 June 2022. FMC is one of four subsidiaries of the German global health care group Fresenius engaged in providing products and services for dialysis centers, hospitals and outpatient medical care. Fresenius Helios, another subsidiary, is one of Europe’s leading private hospital operators, managing a total of 156 hospitals and treating approximately 14.9 million patients annually.  During the meeting, STR Bautista offered the Philippines’ EMS and ITBPO/HIMS services in support of the group’s ongoing diversification program and its plan to expand its market reach in the ASEAN region.  FMC currently operates 24 dialysis centers in the Philippines and has also established the Fresenius Institute of Dialysis Nursing in Makati, and a shared services center in Alabang.  FMC’s shared services center in Alabang, currently limited to accounting services, supports its operations in 13 countries across the APAC region.  The meeting was an opportunity for the post to provide FMC with information on the country’s HIMS competencies, particularly non-voice-based and language-agnostic services that could be leveraged by the group in adding value to the services it currently provides its clientele in the EU.
