During the virtual meeting between PTIC-Berlin Commercial Counsellor Nic Bautista, Mr. Julio Arias of Sketchnote, Ms. Katrina Chan and Mr. Manuel Igual of QBO via Zoom on 03 June 2022.

Commercial Counsellor Nicanor Bautista of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Berlin (PTIC-Berlin) moderates the meeting between Sketchnote and QBO on Friday 03 June 2022 which resulted to Sketchnote’s committed participation in the Philippine Startup Week scheduled this November in Manila. Organized by PTIC-Berlin, the discussion focused on Sketchnote’s interest to expand its existing portfolio of startup investments in the country.

Represented by its Managing Director, Mr. Julio Arias, Sketchnote is a software development company and a VC fund management company that provides seed capital to early-stage startups through its regional investment arm in Singapore. To date, Sketchnote has already invested in 2 Filipino startups: Shipmates (online courier platform) and Armada Brands (an e-commerce aggregator). Sketchnote is very bullish on the future of technology in the Philippines and is looking to make more investments as part of their “ASEAN pivot.” Aside from committing to participate in-person in the scheduled Philippine Startup Week in Manila this November, Mr. Arias has agreed to join QBO’s regular “demo weeks”/pitching competitions to assist his company in identifying viable startups for investment.

QBO, represented by Ms. Katrina Chan, Managing Director and Mr. Manuel Igual, COS, is a private-public initiative that supports Filipino startups, connects, and develops the local startup ecosystem. Currently, QBO has some 600 startups under its portfolio. ♦
