The national government’s fiscal balance posted a deficit of PhP107.15 billion in December 2017 from a deficit of PhP8.62 billion recorded the previous month, bringing down the 2017 total deficit to US$350.64 billion. However, 2017 deficit is a little lower compared to that of 2016 at US$353.42 billion deficit, registering a negative 0.8% growth rate.

Revenue in 2017 increased to PhP2,473.13 billion from the PhP2,195.91 billion recorded the previous year, resulting in a 12.6% growth in revenue collections.  However, national government spending reached PhP2,823.77 billion, up by 10.8% from the PhP2,549.34 billion recorded last year.
