The Philippines’ total merchandise trade for January-June 2018 amounted to US$84.57 billion, an increase of 6.0% from US$79.82 billion recorded in January-June 2017. Total exports declined by 3.8% to US$32.73 billion in January-June 2018 from US$34.04 billion in the same period last year. On the other hand, total imports increased by 13.2% from US$45.79 billion in January-June 2017 to US$51.84 billion in January-June 2018. The country’s balance of trade in goods registered US$19.10 billion deficit in January-June 2018 higher than the US$11.75 billion deficit during the same period in 2017.
