Philippine Ambassador to Malaysia, H.E. Charles Jose, together with the Philippine exporters and officials from EMB and PTIC-KL, during the Philippine Pavilion’s Opening Ceremony.

Philippine delegation to the 8th Selangor International Expo – Food and Beverage generated initial export sales of USD 4.3 million and additional potential leads amounting to USD 5.4 million during the four-day food and beverage trade exhibition held on 6-9 October 2022 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The Delegation included a total of 16 coconut, coffee, and cacao producers with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Export Marketing Bureau (EMB) and the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) in Kuala Lumpur.

The Philippine Pavilion showcased the products of Amazing Foods Corporation, Benevelle Corporation, Cocoplus Aquarian Development Corporation, Federation of Peoples’ Sustainable Development Cooperative, Fruits of Life, Inc, Greenlife Coconut Products Philippines, Inc, JNRM Corporation, Pasciolco Agri-Ventures, The Superfood Grocer Phil. Inc, Tongsan Industrial, Development Corporation, TreeLife Coco Sugar, Wellnesscare International Corporation, Project Beans Trading, VerraCoffee Inc, and MS3 Agri-Ventures Corporation under the brand “Coconut Philippines”, which is one of the initiatives of the DTI to promote the country’s coconut sector in international markets. Under the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP), the DTI has been assisting coconut farmer enterprises in entering/growing their presence global markets through the implementation of extensive market research and strategies for the promotion of coconut products.

During the opening ceremony of the Selangor International Expo (F&B), the Philippine Pavilion was visited by the Crown Prince of the State of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, who was impressed by the variety of products presented by Philippine exporters.

“We are proud to showcase premium Philippine coconut products at the Selangor International Expo – Food and Beverage 2022. With the many health benefits that coconut products provide, we are confident that these products will cater to the discerning taste of the Malaysians and certainly make a good impression in Malaysia,” Philippine Ambassador Charles C. Jose said during his speech at the Opening Ceremony of the Philippine Pavilion.

Aside from the events at Selangor International Expo (F&B), a briefing for the DTI and Philippine exporters was held to provide updates on the Malaysian market, importation process in Malaysia, food and safety and quality requirements for imported products, and e-commerce onboarding and networks in Malaysia. The briefing was conducted by invited representatives from the Malaysia Ministry of Health, the Royal Malaysian Customs Department, and E-Jazmine, a Malaysian e-commerce platform.

Through the assistance of PTIC-Kuala Lumpur, the Philippine exporters also visited and met with prominent and premium supermarkets including Ben’s Independent Grocers (BIG), AEON Shopping Centre, and The Food Merchant, who expressed interest in source products from the Philippines, such as vegan ice cream which commonly uses coconut milk as an alternative dairy source. -End-
