2016 was an exciting year for the Philippine Trade Training Center as a “venue of choice” by event organizers for various types of functions such as trade fairs, conventions, product launchings, and company celebrations.

FIRST QUARTER

The PTTC halls and lobby became the prime location of Ajinomoto’s “Umami Culinary Challenge” with the theme “Eat Well, Live Well” in January 2016 where culinary competitions, celebrity presentations, and cooling demos took place,  It was attended by food enthusiasts, culinary students, nutritionists, and chefs aimed to combine flavor and health consciousness in food preparations.  For 2017, Ajinomoto will come back to PTTC to hold a similar event with more exciting surprises.

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) of the Department of Agriculture (DA) held its first-ever twin event “National Fisheries Industry Summit” and “Bangus Congress” at the PTTC Halls on February 3-5, 2016.Back-to-back with the summit is an exhibit at PTTC Main Lobby participated by processed fish manufacturers, feeds producers, providers of machines related to processing of fish products such as ice-making, metal detection, x-ray, labeling, and sorting as well as government organizations that support the industry.

March has been the WORLDBEX month for several years. The Philippine World Building and Construction Exposition is known as Asia’s biggest and most attended construction exposition composed of more than a thousand booths and participated by 500 exhibiting companies around the world. It gathered the country’s top architects, interior designers, building materials and equipment providers, and furniture exporters.

SECOND QUARTER

WORLDBEX organizers returned to PTTC in April 2016 for the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS).  This event is widely acclaimed for presenting the leading automotive products and showcasing the latest trends in the auto industry including heavy and light machineries, safety equipment and accessories, auto components and devices, car care equipment, spare parts, and tools.

Also held during the 2nd quarter was the “Philippine Summer Food Fiesta” organized by AD Asia Conventions & Exhibitions International Corporation, a Philippine-based event management company.  It was dubbed as the ultimate summer food and beverage fair that showcased a wide variety of authentic and native food offerings during festivals.

THIRD QUARTER

Held in July 2016 was the SME Roving Academy co-organized by DTI-BSMED and PTTC on July 1-2, 2016.  It was graced by no other than Honorable DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez on his first day in office and was joined by other DTI Undersecretaries, Directors and top management.  There were simultaneous free offerings of entrepreneurship trainings and demo workshops as well as exhibits of MSMEs and info booths of agencies involved in assisting would-be and existing entrepreneurs.

FOURTH QUARTER

The Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC) was selected as one of the five (5) venues of the country’s premier design and lifestyle event, Manila FAME, on October 20 – 22, 2016.This was the 64th edition of Asia-Pacific’s second-longest running trade show that has been expanded to four (4) other venues with extended exhibit hours (9:00 am – 7:00 pm) to accommodate the increasing number of participating SME exporters and exhibitors to promote and sell their products to international buyers.  Manila FAME showcased once more new artisans, designers, and products.

Singapore’s HQ BizLink International of Singapore chose PTTC as the premier venue of “City Infrastructure Philippines”, an international exhibition and conference organized by HQ BizLink International of Singapore last  November 22 -24, 2016.Carrying the theme “Shaping the Philippines’ Future,” this major event introduced various breakthroughs that will help accelerate the infrastructure development of the country.  It showcased the latest technologies, machineries, and services with emphasis on use of “Trenchless Technology,” now widely used in the construction and civil engineering industry with minimum disruption to traffic and business sectors.
