The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), which is responsible for realizing the country’s goal of globally competitive and innovative industry and services sector that contribute to inclusive growth and employment generation, through the Construction Industry and Authority of the Philippines (CIAP) and Construction Manpower Development Foundation (DTI-CMDF) has recently entered into an agreement with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the government agency tasked to manage and supervise technical education skills development policies, plans, and programs, to cooperate in the implementation of human resource development programs in the construction industry.
The said agreement aims to develop and implement programs in a smooth and effective manner on the basis of equality, reciprocity, and mutual benefit to accelerate the delivery of the Build! Build! Build! Program by providing competent construction manpower.
The agreement revives the relationship between TESDA and CMDF through its internal and external trainings for capacity building. It also utilizes the use of the Construction Manpower Development Center in Dasmariñas, Cavite as venue for training and construction assessment programs.
Aside from these, the training materials provided by CMDF to the trainings conducted by TESDA will be synchronized and anchored to the Philippine Qualifications Framework (PQF) set for the programs. There will be a tie-up between the two agencies derived from this agreement and they will cooperate to strengthen capacity building programs of the construction industry.♦
