As part of its initiatives to provide micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with continued market presence, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) through the Bureau of Domestic Trade Promotion (BDTP) and in collaboration with the DTI Regional and Provincial Offices has held a series of Bagsakan projects at various venues since March of this year.

With the difficulties posed by the Taal Volcano eruption at the start of the year, then immediately followed by the global pandemic, local entrepreneurs who relied on the vibrant domestic market were hard hit. By the end of the year, the DTI-BDTP has completed 29 Bagsakan events and assisted 200 MSMEs including 13 social associations and 4 fruit growers cooperatives from 26 provinces to make their products accessible to Metro Manila consumers. It has generated sales of over P18M for the participating exhibitors.

A formal ceremony marking the culmination of the DTI Bagsakan project was held during the Christmas Grand Fest at the Festival Mall in Alabang, Muntinlupa City, last December 16, 2020. In attendance at the event were (L-R): Emily de Leon, senior manager of exhibits and conventions, Filinvest Lifemalls; Dir. Marievic Bonoan of the DTI-Bureau of Domestic Trade Promotion; Denise Rae Lagayan, assistant vice president for marketing, Festival Malls; Cong. Rozzano Rufino Biazon, representative of the lone district of Muntinlupa City; Usec. Abdulgani Macatoman of the DTI-Trade Promotions Group; Joselito Santos, senior vice president for Filinvest Land; and RJ Smith, deputy city administrator of Muntinlupa City.

The following top sellers for the Bagsakan special project were also awarded certificates of recognition: Bataan Mango Growers Association (Bataan), Gloria’s Delicacies (Bataan), Amanda’s Marine Products (Bataan), Gracielo’s Cashew Nuts (Bataan), Joyful Farm Organic Garden (Bulacan), Guimaras Mango Growers Association (Guimaras), Jhaz Footwear Store (Laguna), Orihinal na Magbabasket ng Nueva Ecija (Nueva Ecija), Cocoplus Aquarian Development Corporation (Laguna), and Pangalatok’s Enterprises (National Capital Region).

In addition to the Bagsakan project that culminated with the Christmas Grand Fest, the DTI-BDTP also recently launched the National Trade Fair (NTF) Digital Mall, a permanent e-commerce platform for MSMEs from the country’s 17 regions. There are currently 223 participating digital stores within the NTF Digital Mall, offering products such as gifts & souvenirs, home & living, fashion & accessories, food & beverages, and health & beauty. Visit https://ntfdigimall.linker.store/ to check out the various products, read inspirational success stories, and access online learning resources.
