The Philippine Board of Investments (BOI) thru its Domestic Investments Promotion Service (DIPS) recently conducted a two-day training on investments promotion for Negosyo Centers (NCs) frontliners of Region 2 in Tuguegarao City.

The training is part of the collaboration between BOI and the DTI Regional Operations Group in standardizing counseling competencies of NC frontliners by providing basic knowledge on how to set up a business in the Philippines as provided by the various investment policies and laws. The NC frontliners were also capacitated on basic skills on assisting investors and other stakeholders who wish to set up their businesses.

The training highlighted the key role of NC frontliners in gathering information on cost of doing business and availability of land and resources which can be offered to potential investors. Having this information on hand speeds up decision making for investors to locate in Region 2.

The training drew 45 participants representing the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino and Nueva Vizcaya and three from the DTI Region 2.

The priority sectors of the provinces are agri-business, tourism, infrastructure and logistics, power, telecommunications and information technology, among others.

DTI Region 2 and the Provincial Offices will monitor the progress of the NC frontliners and the investment leads which they can generate for possible BOI registration.♦
