Captains and decision makers from the Philippine construction industry and its partner agencies will gather at the 3rd Philippine Construction Industry Congress on 8th of November 2018 at Conrad Hotel Manila to address relevant issues vital to the growth and sustainability of the Philippine construction industry.

With the construction industry as the second largest contributor to the growth of the Philippine economy, the outlook is looking good for the industry as it has generated enormous interest for investments from both local and international key players.

Organized by the Construction Industry Authority of the Philippines (CIAP) in partnership with the Philippine Constructors Association (PCA) and with the participation of PhilConstruct Events, Exhibitions, & Conferences Corp. (PEEC), Infrastructure and Construction Focus Group (ICFG), EU-Philippine Business Network (EPBN) , the event converges international and local delegates from private sector organizations, government agencies, international embassies, and business organizations to fast track the creation of the Philippine Construction Industry Roadmap.

The congress also provides venue to participants to offer insights and discuss construction industry concerns such as policy initiatives related to construction industry, a masterplan for the industry which will be implemented across administrations, various infrastructure delivery options to achieve infrastructure objectives, effect of technology in the future of construction jobs, and the perennial problem of bureaucratic red tape and similar challenges in the industry.

Gathered inputs from the industry shall be utilized in outlining the construction industry roadmap, in line with the Philippine Development Plan 2017-2022 and the country’s biggest, boldest, and most ambitious mega-infrastructure plan: the ‘Build. Build. Build.’ program.

The event will host five panel sessions that will engage leaders and decision-makers of the construction industry from the private sector organizations, government offices, academic institutions of engineering and architecture, financial institutions, international embassies, and business organizations: Liberalization of the construction industry; Accelerating Nationwide Infrastructure Build Up; Opportunities and Infrastructure Delivery Models; Training & Education: The Future of Construction Jobs; and What is holding up our Infra Projects.

The Philippine Quality Awards (PQA) criteria for construction will also be launched at the event.

The criteria were born out of a PQA Comprehension Survey accomplished by CIAP, Philippine Constructors Association (PCA), United Architects of the Philippines (UAP), Society of Philippine Electrotechnical Constructors and Suppliers (SPECS), Inc., National Constructors Association of the Philippines Incorporated (NACAP) and other construction organizations to develop a version intended for the construction industry.

The PQA is an integrated approach to organizational performance management and the highest level of national recognition for exemplary organizational performance given to qualified institutions in the private and public sector, which is conferred by the President of the Philippines.

Companies and organizations which received a PQA recognition serve as models for other organizations that are on a similar journey to performance excellence. They will also have the opportunity to share these best practices in provincial/regional promotional activities of the PQA program.

The Construction Congress is also held to celebrate CIAP’s 38th founding anniversary.♦
