To create more businesses and jobs and sustain the country’s strong economy, the Department of Trade and Industry Region 4-A partners with the Association of the Filipino Franchisers, Inc. (AFFI) to conduct the Homegrown Brands’ Acceleration Franchise Formation Inception (HAFFI) Bootcamp CALABARZON Edition on 10-12 July 2019 in Calamba City, Laguna.

The program aims to provide actual franchise modules to help the selected KAPATID Mentor ME (KMME) participants in leveling up and expanding their businesses through franchising. KMME is a coaching and mentoring program that brings together experts and industry leaders who provide a series of free mentoring sessions on different aspects of business operations to assist small players scale up their businesses.

The Bootcamp will cover Franchise Formation, Acceleration, and Inception, helping the participants to be equipped with knowledge needed in the franchise development program. Some of the topics will be on the legalities of franchising, the vitality of trade mark and intellectual property rights, franchise operations support, brand development, franchise marketing, best practices on personal finances of franchisers, among others. The participants are expected to partake in the discussions, simulations, and worksheet activities.

DTI Secretary Ramon M. Lopez came up with the 7Ms in setting up a business—mindset, mastery, mentoring, money, machine, market access, and models of business. Thus, the Bootcamp will give prominence to the 7th M, models of business, to discuss how franchising can become one of the tools to create an effective business model.

The DTI recognizes the role of franchising in being a crucial driver of inclusive growth. After our micro and small enterprises graduate from the KMME program, our intervention does not end there. We want to continue and fortify our support to our KMME graduates to help them achieve a successful franchise business,” said DTI CALABARZON Regional Director Marilou Q. Toledo.

Moreover, we hope to strengthen our partnership with the private sector such as the AFFI to help our MSMEs in enhancing their skills and leveling up their business,” Toledo added.
