The Department of Trade and Industry – Export Marketing Bureau (DTI-EMB) urged Philippine exporters to explore market opportunities in Egypt and Ethiopia during the information session held on August 15, 2019 at the Training room of the DTI International Building, Makati City.

The information session was in preparation for the Outbound Business Matching Mission (OBMM) to Egypt and Ethiopia, which EMB is organizing and is scheduled on the last quarter of 2019.

Foreign Service Officer Francis Ramon B. Torres of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) – Office of Middle East and African Affairs talked about the African market while, Honorary Consul Federico S. Borromeo of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia discussed the market opportunities in Ethiopia with additional pointers on business travel.

Moreover, DTI-EMB Assistant Director Agnes R. Legaspi talked about the market overview and opportunities in Egypt and Ethiopia and the important arrangements for the OBMM.

Consul Borromeo believes that Ethiopia and the Philippines have a lot to learn from each other and that there are significant opportunities for closer collaboration specifically in the trade and investment areas.
