In celebration of the Consumer Welfare Month this October with the theme, “Consumer Protection in the ASEAN Economic Community,” the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)- Laguna Provincial Office facilitated a stage play contest dubbed as “2015 Tanghalang Pangmamimili-Provincial Contest” at The Cultural Center, Provincial Capitol Compound, P. Guevarra St., Brgy. Poblacion 1, Sta. Cruz, Laguna on 09 October 2015 at 1:00PM. Said contest is previously known as “Dulaang Pangmamimili”.
Below are the schools that participated in the said contest:
  1. Balian National High School in Pangil, Laguna
  2. Pagsanjan National High School in Pagsanjan, Laguna
  3. Pedro Guevara Memorial National High School in Sta. Cruz, Laguna
  4. Refiner’s Christian School in Calauan, Laguna
  5. Rizal Standard Academy in Nagcarlan, Laguna
  6. San Pablo City National High School in San Pablo City, Laguna
  7. Siniloan National High School in Siniloan, Laguna
Pedro Guevara Memorial National High School was declared the champion and will then compete in the 2015 Tanghalang Pangmamimili – Regional Finals at SM City Dasmariñas in Cavite on November 17, 2015. Other awards are as follows:
  • 1st Runner-Up – Siniloan National High School
  • 2nd Runner-Up – Rizal Standard Academy
  • 3rd Runner-Up – San Pablo City National High School
  • Best Female Performer – Monica P. Curod of San Pablo City NHS;
  • Best Male Performer – Nyl Vern San Juan of Pedro Guevara MNHS;
  • Best in Cheering – San Pablo City National High School;
  • Best Scriptwriter – Angelica Jane Iwarat of Pedro Guevara MNHS;
  • Best Director – Erasto Arinuelo of Pedro Guevara MNHS;
  • Best Teacher Coach – Erasto Arinuelo/Gina Bautista of Pedro Guevara MNHS.
This program is an initiative of DTI – CALABARZON Region and an innovation to the usual consumer fora and on-the-spot drawing contests being done in the past. This is a competition participated in by high school students that advocates consumerism, which aims to increase awareness on the consumer protection laws and to help them internalize the importance of consumerism and the salient features of Republic Act No. 7394 (RA 7394) otherwise known as the Consumer Act of the Philippines.
