DTI Secretary Ramon M. Lopez and SM Supermarket President Jose Maria Mendoza at the Consumer Corner launch at SM Megamall

MANDALUYONG – As part of its Consumer Care Program, the Department of Trade and Industry launched the DTI Consumer Corner and 1-DTI hotline last August 9 at SM Megamall.

The DTI Consumer Corner contains flyers on important consumer concerns like consumer rights and responsibilities, labeling requirements, the No Return, No Exchange Policy, PS and ICC marks, among others. It is located at SM Supermarket’s Consumer Welfare Desk at Megamall.

The administration of President Rodrigo Duterte is committed to the safety and protection of consumer public, and DTI is passionate about fulfilling this mandate,” said DTI Secretary Ramon M. Lopez during the launch. “After all, by doing more than our share to make the consumer environment a safer place, DTI is also working towards the growth of the economy.”

Five other SM Supermarkets will carry DTI’s Consumer Corner. But SM has committed to increase this number and include Hypermarkets, Savemore, and SM Department Stores.

We are very happy to be partners with DTI in this program. We have the same goal of having well-informed and smart consuming public,” said SM Supermarket President Jose Maria Mendoza

SM is a Corporate Bagwis Awardee, an honor given by DTI to those establishments that uphold consumer rights. One of the Bagwis Parameters is having a Consumer Welfare Desk in all branches.

1-DTI Hotline

The trade chief also announced that consumers can now call DTI’s Consumer Care Hotline: 1-DTI (1-384), for questions and complaints. The hotline is toll-free for Globe subscribers and is open from 8 am – 5 pm every day.

Consumers can also reach DTI through its new consumer email address: ConsumerCare@dti.gov.ph. DTI also responds through its social media accounts: @DTIPhilippines on Twitter and @DTI.Philippines on Facebook. ♦
