The Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) in Moscow, in partnership with the Philippine Embassy in Moscow and the Overseas Filipino Bank on August 16, 2020, organized and conducted the online Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan (TNK) Zoom Session entitled “Financial Literacy and the Overseas Filipino Bank”, for our “Kabayans” in Russia, Kazakhstan, and Armenia. 

Third Secretary and Vice Consul Grace Perpetua delivered the opening remarks, where she shared that the webinar was a continuation of a previous TNK session, which was also held via Zoom, last 02 August 2020. In her speech, Vice Consul Perpetua emphasized digital banking as an important tool for financial literacy. 

In his inspirational message, Deputy Chief of Mission and Consul General Robert O. Ferrer, Jr added that the Overseas Filipino Bank (OF Bank) will be useful to our “kabayans” in their financial planning, remittance tracking, and in safeguarding their savings and money.  He also highlighted that it is important to know how to manage our income and prepare for our future. 

Main guest speakers were representatives of Landbank of the Philippines (LBP) and the Overseas Filipino Bank. Mr. Richmond Lagrito, LBP’s Overseas Representative Officer of OFW Remittance Group (ORG) shared insights on the aspect s of financial literacy: savings, budgeting, and debt management. On the other hand,  Mr. Jose Emmanuel Valdez, LBP Department Manager and Relationship Officer representing OF Bank’s  President & CEO Leila Martin, gave a presentation of the OF Bank and the different services and feature products available to overseas Filipinos — and how these tools will help them achieve their savings goals. 

Commercial Counsellor Kristine Umali moderated the webinar and in her closing remarks, she encouraged the participants to learn more about financial literacy and to understand the practicality of integrating digital banking with our financial lives. 

Financial Literacy and the Overseas Filipino Bank is the second half of the two-part TNK seminar on financial literacy.
