The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through the Export Marketing Bureau (EMB), in collaboration with the Philippine Exporters Confederation Inc. (PHILEXPORT) and Export Development Council (EDC), has organized various activities for the annual National Exporters’ Week (NEW), which will be held on 1-7 December 2018.
This year’s theme for NEW is “SPICE Up to Scale Up: Expand Exports for Inclusive Prosperity.” SPICE stands for “Stimulate. Permeate. Innovate. Connect. Expand!”
“We are lining up exciting events for our stakeholders, especially during the conduct of the National Export Congress (NEC), the highlight of the week-long observance of the NEW,” said DTI-EMB Director Senen M. Perlada.
With 700 delegates including exporters, business support organizations, government agencies, private sector, and the academe, the NEC will be held on December 7, 2018 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.
For the first time in NEC’s history, representatives from both public and private sectors can set up business matching meetings and network at the Congress’ Business Matching Hub, where delegates can have fruitful discussions about business growth and create collaborations to strengthen the Philippine export industry.
In addition to Business Matching Hub is the conduct of the first Logistics Services Philippines (LSPH) Exhibition, where exporters can gain access to the full range of logistics services from across the country and engage with LSPH providers that best fit their businesses.
Another part of the congress is the Export Enabler Exhibit which gives exporters a chance to connect with various government agencies and business organizations in order to expand their current network and get industry updates on regulations and market opportunities.
Pursuant to the Presidential Proclamation 931 series of 1996 and House Resolution No.33, the first week of December is declared as Exporters’ Week. With this, the government and the private sector continuously work together to sustain the country’s export promotion and development.
“This year, the congress seeks to provide Philippine exporters a venue where they could discuss emerging trends, market opportunities, innovative ideas, and technologies,” Perlada said.
The NEC itself will feature different topics like seizing market prospects, the ease of doing business, and innovative approaches to attain business sustainability, among others.
A 2018 NEC Mobile App can also be used by participants who wish to know latest happenings at the event. The NEC Mobile App will be available via App Store and Google Play soon.
Meanwhile, among the activities for the NEW in Manila are the “Usapang Exports 2018 Seminars” which includes the discussions: “Startups for Exporters” on 3 December 2018, “Export Opportunities: Learning from the Trade Attaches” on 4 December 2018, as well as the “International Certification and Standards for Greater Market Access for GDH and Wearables Sectors” on December 5, 2018.♦
