TUGUEGARAO CITY — Isabela State University will be the lone institution featured at the Investment Promotions Conference at the Philippine Pavilion as a participant in the China-ASEAN Expo 2023. The news was recently brought by the Department of Trade and Industry Region 2, led by Regional Director Leah Pulido Ocampo, during a visit to ISU on February 7, 2023.

The Isabela State University (ISU) has been selected as one of the representatives of the Philippines at the upcoming China-ASEAN Expo (CAExpo) 2023, taking place from September 16-20, 2023 in Nanning, China. The university will showcase its investment potential as a designated Investment Priority Area through the Philippine Economic Zone Authority and the Board of Investment.

The conference will provide a platform for the university to secure investments for its “Knowledge, Innovation, and Information Technology (KIST) Park,” a Special Economic Zone Development Project across its four campuses: ISU Echague Main Campus, ISU City of Ilagan, ISU Cabagan, and ISU Roxas.

ISU President Dr. Ricmar Aquino expressed his excitement and pledged full support to the opportunity, stating that the CAExpo will provide a platform for ISU to not only secure investments but also position itself as a center for academic excellence for foreign students. With plans to expand ISU’s Exchange Students Programs, according to him, the CAExpo will serve as a catalyst for ISU to reach new heights in its mission to educate future leaders and industry players in ASEAN.

The China-ASEAN Expo is an annual international event that has been held since 2004 with the goal of promoting the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (CAFTA) and fostering cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, and diplomatic relations between ASEAN and China. This year’s CAExpo is poised to be a significant event, as the participating countries showcase their potential and explore opportunities for collaboration.

Along with ISU, Tuguegarao City will also be showcased at the pavilion as the “City of Charms” together with other MSMEs and their products.

The China-ASEAN Expo 2023 will be the first international exposition that Isabela State University will participate in. The university in collaboration with DTI aims to showcase its strength in trade, tourism, and investment on a global stage and secure investments to propel the development of its Special Economic Zone Development Projects. *
