The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) doubles its preparation efforts for this year’s ASEAN Online Sale Day (AOSD), as it will be held from 8 – 22 August 2023.
The AOSD is an annual online shopping event conducted on a region-wide scale since 2020, featuring a wide variety of products and services from local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and businesses from all ASEAN Member States (AMS) like Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
The AOSD facilitates and promotes cross-border e-commerce, which is undoubtedly faster and more convenient than traditional transactions. This is part of the AMS’ efforts to facilitate market access and promote consumer confidence in online transactions in the ASEAN region. The suppliers are vetted by AMS before they are onboarded, and complaints of consumers arising from AOSD transactions will be facilitated by the ASEAN Committee on Consumer Protection (ACCP) focals.
“The DTI advises Filipino consumers to stay tuned for this exciting online shopping event. Always remember to exercise your consumer right to information and choice”, says DTI Undersecretary for Consumer Protection Group, Atty. Ruth B. Castelo.
