The Philippines is strengthening its position as a key player in the global semiconductor and electronics industry (S&E) as well as supporting the country’s local industry players, who are set to showcase their competitive edge at the SEMICON Taiwan 2016 in Taipei, Taiwan slated September 6-11, 2016.

The Philippine participation in SEMICON Taiwan 2016is being organized by the Board of Investments (BOI) through its International Investments Promotion Service, in collaboration with the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) in Taipei. This is the first time that the Philippines will participate in the event with  a 54-square meter country pavilion at Hall 1F of the exhibition center.

The  22- member Philippine delegation, to be led by  the officials of DTI Industry Promotions Group, BOI and  PTIC-Taipei, is composed of industry key players from Semiconductor and Electronics Industries in the Philippines Inc. (SEIPI), the Philippine Institute for Integrated Circuits (PIIC), the Philippine Electronics & Semiconductor Suppliers’ Association (PESSA), namely:  Integrated Micro-Electronics Inc., Xinyx Design Consultancy Services, Inzpect Technology Philippines Inc., Tritronics Technology Philippines Inc, Wings Technology Enterprise Inc., Castech Industrial Sales Inc., Firstec Metallics Inc., and SPI Semicon Asia, and lastly the academe represented by the University of the Philippines-Electrical & Electronics Engineering Institute(UP-EEI).

The DTI-BOI is expected to turn the spotlight on with  the Philippine Investment Climate and Business Opportunities in S&E industry feature  during the event’s  Market Investment Seminar. On the same day,  SEIPI will reinforce the market pitch through their  presentation dubbed as  Philippines: Towards Higher Value Manufacturing at the TechXPOT industry discussion platform.

Apart from the showcase of industry capabilities at the Philippine Pavilion, there will also be government-to-business (G2B) and business-to-business (B2B) meetings to be held to optimize the presence of the participating industry players in the exhibition.

SEMICON Taiwan, a three-day event held annually at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, showcases various S&E offerings such as emerging microelectronic products, high brightness LEDs, MPMs,  ICs, and plastic electronics and global microelectronics supply chains. In 2015, visitors to the event reached 30,220, where more than half are decision makers.
