On 11 November 2021 in the afternoon, the Sub Task Group on Economic Intelligence (STG-EI) immediately inspected a warehouse located at UNICAN Industrial Corp located at 202 Gov. Pascual Ave. Brgy Catmon, Malabon City after receiving information from the counterpart Intelligence unit of Philippine National Police – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) of the sightings of possible smuggled agricultural products stored in a warehouse in the said area.

The STG-EI composite team represented by the personnel from the Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA), Philippine National Police – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP – CIDG) entered the warehouse upon the instruction of the STG-EI Alternate Chair, DA Assistant Secretary Federico Laciste, together with PNP-CIDG CAMANAVA PLTCOL Monico Cadayona and the Bureau of Customs – Customs Intelligence and Investigation (BOC-CIIS) Alvin Enciso and Police Coast Guard (PCG) Taskforce Aduana.

The inter-agency task group inspection on the said warehouse was conducted after a Letter of Authority (LOA) was issued by BOC Commission Rey Guerrero upon the request of Alternate Chair and DTI Undersecretary, Atty. Ruth Castelo, based on information gathered by STG-EI.

Ruth Castelo, based on information gathered by STG-EI. BOC-CIIS team sealed all three reefer containers with smuggled vegetables and padlocked the entire warehouse. The inventory of the smuggled goods is scheduled on 12 November 2021. PNP CIDG CAMANAVA also arrested the workers inside the warehouse for further investigation. ♦
