The Department of Trade & Industry -Bureau of Domestic Trade Promotion (DTI-BDTP) in cooperation with DTI- Region 4A and DTI-Cavite will hold the 18th Bagsakan on September 26, 2020 at La Bella Boutique Hotel in Tagaytay City with 14 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises from the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Quezon and Samar who will showcase their choicest products. The first Bagsakan activity to be held outside the National Capital Region since the Covid-19 outbreak supports the DTI’s “Shop Local, Eat Local, Travel Local” campaign. La Bella, the one-day activity‘s venue in Tagaytay, is a boutique hotel cum mixed-use residential and commercial area that promotes intergenerational wellness and “wellness in mind and body for a more prosperous and joyful life!” It will soon put up and operate its own Go Lokal outlet at its Village Market.
To promote a shift to a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle, the 18th Bagsakan will feature food and health and wellness products from the CALABARZON Region. This is in harmony with the global trend to create healthier, more sustainable, resilient and inclusive societies. Organic coconut products, special delicacies from the Southern Tagalog Region and tikog bags from Samar will be on sale during the event.
Over the past six months since the BDTP initiated the Bagsakan in March, 93 MSMEs, farmers, fruit growers and cooperatives from eleven regions in the country namely, CAR, 1, 2, 3, 4A, 4B, 5, 6, 8, 9 and NCR were assisted, generating total sales of almost Seven Million Pesos (Php 7 M). In keeping with the DTI’s mandate to provide support for Filipino entrepreneurs, Bagsakan will soon have an online version with an e-commerce platform for fresh produce and chilled products.
