Team DTI Quirino monitors the progress of the execution of prototypes by the Dumabato Norte Senior Citizens Association. The products will be displayed for sale during the Padday Na Lima Regional Trade Fair in September 2019.

The traditional view is that as workers age, they become less productive. Indeed, elderly workers may not be as agile or as strong as their younger counterparts but to hold this kind of negativity towards senior citizens assume that they can no longer be productive and may become a bane for the economy.

The Dumabato Norte Senior Citizens Association (DNSCA) are proving this assumption wrong. They are in fact busy with preparations for their participation in the coming 2019 Padday Na Lima Regional Trade Fair being organized by the Department of Trade and Industry Region 02. During a progress monitoring of bamboo- based product on June 25, by the DTI Quirino team led by Engr. Efren dela Cruz, the team discussed with the DNSCA members the progress of the execution of prototypes designed by the in-house designers of DTI 02.

Based in Dumabato Norte, Madella, the association is one of the key stakeholders in the developing bamboo industry cluster in the Province of Quirino. Aside from product development, they have also benefitted from DTI led trainings on pricing and costing, marketing and developing an entrepreneurial mindset among its members. Being engaged in productive, creative and profitable work, these seniors are becoming healthier both in body and mind.♦
