Zamboanga Peninsula Exposition (ZAMPEX) 2019 came out bolder as it conquers Metro Manila from August 1-5, 2019 at the Megatrade Hall 2, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City.

DTI IX Regional Director Sitti Amina M. Jain welcomed the guests, visitors and exhibitors during the ZamPex 2019 Opening Ceremony with high hopes that next year’s ZAMPEX will still be in Metro Manila as it aims to exploit larger market. Accordingly, while most of those who are in Luzon got the not-so-nice perception about Zamboanga Peninsula, bringing ZAMPEX in Manila is now giving chances to those who cannot visit ZamPen but wanted to see the best and finest of the Region from its products, both food and non-food, to tourist destinations. The Ceremony was graced by Senator Cynthia Villar who encouraged the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to strive harder as all great successes start from small beginnings. Senator Villar was also joined by DTI Regional Operations Group Assistant Secretary Blesila A. Lantayona, who represented DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez, Department of Tourism (DOT) Assistant Secretary Myra Paz Valderossa Abubakar and DOT Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat respectively. Present also were the officials of the participating ZamPen provincial and city governments who have put up their respective pavilions showcasing the best of their localities. Each of these LGUs is set to host every night for their cultural presentation.

The ZAMPEX 2019 is co-organized by Department of Agriculture (DA) and DOT. This convergence makes ZAMPEX 2019 a 12-in-1 event as it brings trade fair, travel exchange, skills demo, investment forum, digital economy session, provincial pavilions, mini-agri trade fair, daily LGU cultural presentations, weaver’s booth, OTOP, and Halal setting. All these are being made possible by the exhibitors coming from the provinces of Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga Sibugay and the cities of Isabela and Zamboanga. They range from the DOT accredited travel and tour operators, DA assisted farmers and fisher folks & farmers and DTI assisted MSMEs. These MSMEs are assisted by DTI IX through its various programs: Kapatid Mentor ME (Micro Enterprise), OTOP (One Town, One Product) Next Gen, Shared Service Facilities (SSF), Pondo sa Pagbabago at Pag-aasenso (P3) among others.

The expo which will run for five days aims to double its 2018 sales of P25 M. It also aims to raise P1M of sales from the travel exchange, P20 M worth of investments and 20 new markets for the MSMEs.♦
