MIMAROPA — Around 80 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from Marinduque and the Calamianes Group of Islands gathered in two separate events for the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – MIMAROPA’s financial inclusion caravan in partnership with the Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC).

DTI MIMAROPA and RCBC jointly organized the face-to-face pilot caravan to provide additional livelihood opportunities and financial capacity development activities for MSMEs in the region. Moderated by RCBC representatives Mr. Donato Flores and Mr. Rennier Katigbak, the discussion is geared toward bringing banking services to remote communities.

Representatives from Peddlr Philippines Inc. also discussed eCommerce applications for MSMEs, via the Zoom application.

Keynote speaker Rodolfo J. Mariposque, OIC-Regional Director of DTI MIMAROPA, highlighted the growing significance of bringing inclusive financial technologies closer to more entrepreneurs during the Marinduque run held on March 14 in the municipality of Boac. He emphasized that one of the main goals of the campaign is to connect entrepreneurs from outside commercial and banking districts to safe and established financial platforms.

This was followed by a similar hybrid event for MSMEs in Busuanga, Coron, and Culion in Palawan on March 22 and 23.

DTI MIMAROPA is set to host the aforesaid caravan in Romblon, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, and mainland Palawan in the coming weeks.
