Over 100 small business owners in MIMAROPA complete the three-day e-commerce webinar series organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) e-Commerce Office in partnership with key e-commerce players from different industries.
Ctrl+Biz: Reboot Now! started during the height of the pandemic and aims to assist micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) affected by the pandemic and those who wish to venture into the field of eCommerce. Since then, the webinar series has produced 121 sessions on trade, tourism, and logistics, with 136 topics on e-commerce and doing business online, and over 37,000 participants.
To direct the discussion based on the varying needs of each region, the Ctrl+Biz: Reboot Now! Regional Zoom Shows was launched to help regional entrepreneurs leverage technology and e-commerce and capacitate them by increasing awareness and understanding of the industry, and introduce them to enablers and platforms that will help them transition from traditional brick-and-mortar stores to digital market players. Apart from MSMEs, the webinar series was also open to the academe, local government units, other national government agencies, and Negosyo Centers.
The webinar brought together experts from digital payments, logistics, and marketing platform companies, and the government to give master classes on topics related to e-commerce and digital transformation. Among the participating speakers were from technology-platform giants such as Lazada, Shopee, GCash, PayMaya, Google, FedEx, to name a few.
In his opening remarks during day 2 of the webinar series, DTI-MIMAROPA Assistant Regional Director (RD) Rodolfo J. Mariposque, underlined the importance of transitioning to e-commerce channels and platforms. To add, he challenged the private sector to create digital solutions targeted for sari-sari store business owners.
DTI-MIMAROPA has recorded 1,356 MSMEs doing e-commerce from January to June 2021. The office targets to enroll over 5,000 MSMEs in eCommerce platforms before the year ends.
