DTI- Camiguin Provincial Office conducted Information and Education Campaign to selected Grade 8 & 9 students in four schools in the municipality of Mambajao, namely: Tupsan National High School, Mambajao National High School, Kuguita Integrated School and Mambajao National High School. It is a half day activity and was conducted last February 21-22, 2018.

The focus of the information and education campaign is to inform consumers at an early age of their rights so that consumer laws and regulations gets implemented accordingly.

The forum is also timely for students to prepare on one of the highlights of the consumer month celebration observed every October, that is the Consumer Quiz for high School students. Consumer month celebration reminds us how important consumers and their vulnerabilities in the market place.

The activity was spearheaded by the Consumer Protection Division (CPD) of DTI to emphasize on the importance of consumer protection and consumer empowerment among the youth. As consumers, we have the right to basic and prime commodities at affordable prices and of good quality, to be protected against the marketing of goods or the provision of services that are hazardous to health and life, to be protected against dishonest or misleading advertising or labeling, and to be compensated for misrepresentation, shoddy goods or unsatisfactory services, among others.♦
