The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 2 was recently recognized for its participation in the National Government Excellence Class (GEC).
DTI Region 2 OIC Regional Director Mr. Ruben B. Diciano received the award from Mr. Ceazar E. Navarro, GEC Project Manager and Ms. Ma. Theresa A. Agustin, Director of Productivity and Quality Training Office on January 26, 2017 at the DTI Regional Office in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.
The GEC is being initiated by the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) as a complementary mechanism to the Philippine Quality Award. It aims to develop and nurture a culture of excellence in public service delivery by giving due recognitions to public sector organizations with commendable level of performance.

DTI Region 2 was assessed using the GEC Self-Assessment Tool to objectively asses the public sector agencies’ strength and opportunities for improvement towards attaining Business Excellence.
DTI Region 2 signified its intention to participate in the GEC in September 2015 under the leadership of former DTI Region 2 Regional Director Atty. Ma. Esperanza C. Banares.
