The Diffun Consumer Welfare Association (DCWA) headed by its president, Mr. Virgilio Francia, in partnership with DTI-Quirino, LGU-Diffun and PNP-Diffun recently inspected bakeries in Diffun, Quirino on October 24, 2017 to assess and monitor their compliance with food safety standards.
The inspection team was composed of members of the DCWA, LGU representatives, Diffun Sanitary Inspection Officer, representatives from PNP Diffun and DTI Quirino Provincial Office. The team was able to cover nine (9) bakeries within the municipality, majority of which are located at the town proper.
During the inspection, it was observed that some of the bakeries visited do not pass the food safety standards for a food business establishment. Owners of the said establishments together with their workers were advised to practice good manufacturing practices and proper food handling, food safety and sanitation. As a result, the consumer organization recommended a follow-up inspection of the said bakeries through a letter addressed to the Local Chief Executive, Mayor Marlo S. Guillermo, to be done a month after the recently conducted inspection.
DTI Quirino, LGU Diffun and DCWA are in collaborative efforts to establish a culture of food safety in the municipality for the benefit of the consumers. ♦
