The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Nueva Vizcaya Provincial office spearheaded by Ms. Preciosa A. Maglaya, CTIDS conducted a Consumer Education and Information (CEI) seminar and establishment of Filipino Consumer on Patrol (FILCOP) Movement Group in Bambang National High School (BNHS), Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya on 6 October 2016.
The CEI and FILCOP Movement aims to empower the students to be more proactive members of the community in promoting consumer rights and responsibilities. The discussion will guide the students of the different governing laws on consumerism.
Ms. Maglaya discussed the different Consumer Rights, Consumer Responsibilities, and the background of the FILCOP Movement including the member’s duties.
The students were able to take a check-up quiz based on the topics as a warm-up exercise before the discussion. The speaker cited some examples of consumer complaints to the students for better understanding on the topic.
A newly set of FILCOP officers were also elected during the activity. These officers including the students are expected to be vigilant in their respective communities to help DTI and other respective agencies in ensuring safety to the consumers.
The FILCOP Movement Group established in BNHS was the first group formed in support of the celebration of Consumer Welfare Month.
In attendance were 100 Grade 11 Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and Technical Vocational Livelihood (TVL) students of BNHS.
