Bayombong – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Office through its Dupax del Sur Negosyo Center in collaboration with the League of Barangay Captain is pushing the ‘One Barangay, One Product (OBOP)” project to create more micro entrepreneurs in Dupax del Sur.

The aim of the business development strategy is to create more micro entrepreneurs that will eventually generate jobs and provide additional income for constituents of the municipality.

Mr. Roel P. Dolaypan Jr., Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist (STIDS) of DTI Nueva Vizcaya, presented an OBOP model of development for the 19 Barangay Captains in the Municipality of Dupax del Sur on October 9, 2017 at the Heroes Hall, LGU Dupax del Sur. He briefly discussed the specific developmental stage that each barangay enterprise would undergo.

Mr. Dolaypan urged the barangay executives to produce one product per barangay to enable residents to engage in viable economic activities that would augment their income. Ms. Analyn I. Baniqued, Dupax del Sur Negosyo Center Counselor, also shared the programs and services of the Negosyo Center in line with the proposed OBOP development of the municipality.

OIC Provincial Director Henry O. Conel, Jr. said, “we will make sure that this initiative will grow and develop more barangay-based micro entrepreneurs through a cohesive and inclusive development plan that would respond to the mandate of the agency and the municipality’s economic vision”. DTI Nueva Vizcaya will propose creative and innovative business ideas that will capture their respective target markets.

The League of Barangay Captains in the Municipality of Dupax del Sur will collaborate with DTI Nueva Vizcaya to push and develop their OBOP business development scheme. A series of focus group discussions will be conducted to all barangay entrepreneurs to make an assessment and recommendations on their specific product.♦
