DTI R2 Regional Director Leah Pulido Ocampo was unanimously elected as Co-Chairperson of the Economic Development Committee of the Regional Development Council of Region 2 during its First Quarter Meeting held on March 10, 2023, at the Provincial Capitol, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.
Also elected as the incoming EDC Vice Chair is Gilbert Cumila, an RDC Private Sector Representative and General Manager of the Nueva Vizcaya Agricultural Terminal, Inc. (NVAT). The EDC is chaired by Nueva Vizcaya Governor Carlos Padilla.
DTI R2 ARD Winston Singun, who nominated RD Ocampo, cited the crucial role of the EDC in the development of the region, as it is tasked with the responsibility of formulating policies and programs that will help promote economic growth and create job opportunities for our people.
He further said that RD Ocampo’s track record, dedication, and passion for service, and her leadership, will help EDC achieve its goals and bring positive change to the Cagayan Valley. RD Ocampo thanked the EDC members for choosing her as co-chair. She views her election as a recognition of the crucial role of DTI in the EDC.
“It is an additional responsibility but also a rare opportunity to help steer the economic development of the region. I look forward to working with Governor Padilla and the rest of the EDC to achieve our shared vision for the region’s economic growth and development,” RD Ocampo said. *
