The different Municipal Local Government Units (MLGUs) in Quirino Province namely: Diffun, Cabarroguis, Saguday and Maddela with Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Quirino Provincial Office conducted an Operation Timbangan in their respective areas on October 18, 19, 20 and 24, 2017.  The activities highlighted the observance of the Consumer Month Celebration 2017 in the province. 

Composite teams of designated officers from the Local Price Coordinating Councils (LPCC) of the said municipalities formed the enforcement teams together with consumer organizations and DTI- Quirino Provincial Office.  The activity was conducted to ensure that commercial weighing scales used in various public markets in the province are in good condition. 

As a result of the four (4) conducted Operation Timbangan, a total of forty-nine (49) defective weighing scales were confiscated out of the two hundred fourteen (214) weighing scales checked. The confiscated weighing scales will be subject for calibration and repair. Those beyond repair shall be disposed accordingly. 

In the same activities, SVTIDS Lenore Lee S. Lopez, TIDA Lovell Mark C. Campania and TA Aimee C. Garcia of DTI-Quirino Consumer Protection Unit advocated the different Fair Trade Laws that business owners should comply with. They made emphasis on the Price Tag Law where every product sold in retail should have price tags.  They also reminded them to check if their products bear the requisite markings of products under mandatory certification and see to it that their products are properly labelled. Consumers who were on the site were also informed about their rights and responsibilities. 

DTI Quirino together with the different Municipal LPCCs and consumers groups undertake various consumer related activities in the province to protect consumers and ensure that they enjoy the best value for their money.♦
