The Regional Competitiveness Committee – Region 02 (RCC R02), chaired by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), convened for the conduct of the 1st RCC Meeting on March 29, 2017 at the DTI-NERBAC Conference Room.

Ten (10) out of thirteen (13) member institutions were represented in the meeting which was facilitated by Ms. Mary Ann C. Dy, CTIDS of the Institutional Development Division of DTI-R02.

The agenda included, among others, a presentation of the accomplishments of the RCC R02 in CY 2016 and the proposed RCC Work Program for CY 2017.

Salient information were also shared to the body, such as the government’s Project Repeal and the Philippine Business Data Bank (PBDB). The Project Repeal, which includes the amendment, consolidation, delisting and repeal of rules, regulations and issuances, aims to reduce the cost of compliance for people and businesses that would result to savings for the economy in millions annually. The PBDB is a registry of all registered businesses in DTI, CDA, SEC and LGUs which may be accessed by the public through the Search Business page that is available to all users. These topics were presented earlier during the 1st Regional Competitiveness Committees (RCC) Meeting in Bacolod City on February 15-16, 2017.

As one of the building blocks for national competitiveness, the RCCs are tasked to 1) Regularly measure local competitiveness indicators; 2) Formulate programs to improve competitiveness of LGUs; and 3) Engage in investment promotion activities to attract investors and create new jobs.

At present, the RCC of Region 02 has 13 member institutions which include the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of the Interior and Local Government, (DILG), National Economic Development Authority (NEDA), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Department of Tourism (DOT), Cagayan State University (CSU), Isabela State University (ISU), Quirino State University (QSU), Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU), Batanes State University (BSU), Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), Cagayan Valley Regional Tourism Council (CVRTC), and Government Association of Certified Public Accountants (GACPA).
